Who needs the Asgardians Of The Galaxy when you can have Thor 4?
While Captain America and Iron Man saw their stories brought to a close in Avengers: Endgame, there seemed to be plenty of opportunities for new stories with the God of Thunder, and Marvel Studios will take full advantage of it. The massive mindblowing Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con revealed a load of new info about the studio’s slate including a title, some cast and a mega revelation about the new movie for Thor.
Thor 4 will be called Thor: Love And Thunder, and will feature Natalie Portman who starred as Jane Foster in previous Thor movies reportedly set to become female Thor.
As reported by THR, the studio has tapped Taika Waititi, who shaped the delightful Thor: Ragnarok, to make Thor 4 a reality.
Waititi had been set to direct a live-action adaptation of Akira for Warner Bros, but that project has been put on hold indefinitely because of “script development concerns” according to THR.
Apparently, the plan is to keep Waititi on board for Akira, but in the meantime, he’s got room in his schedule for Thor 4. Chris Hemsworth will return as the titular hero, while Tessa Thompson has been tempted back as Valkyrie, now the queen of new Asgard. Taking to the stage in Hall H Thompson stated “as King, she needs to find her Queen”.
It’s due out in theatres November 5, 2021.
Heaps of new titles for Marvel’s Phase Four slate were revealed at the big show, with dates and cast on the menu for projects like Black Widow, Eternals, Shang Chi, Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2 as well as exciting announcements about a new outings for Blade, X-Men and the Fantastic Four and more. And official word on Thor 4, makes the “strongest Avenger” the first of Marvel’s solo heroes to get a fourth film all to himself.
Thor: Love And Thunder opens 5 November 2021.
