Although both Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie attend a lot of red carpet events, promoting their films and various philanthropic ventures, the two are very rarely ever spotted at the same event. Likely this is due to the two women seeking to avoid a media frenzy once again, after press coverage following Aniston’s divorce and Jolie’s union with Brad Pitt.
However, the two are now both exes of the Hollywood heartthrob and seem to be putting their past behind them, as it has been announced that the pair will be presenting at the Golden Globes next week. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has been slowly, but surely, rolling out the names of actors presenting at the 2018 award ceremony, recently revealing that Aniston and Jolie will be presenting, alongside the likes of Emma Stone and Helen Mirren.
This union of sorts has come at the perfect time, as this year’s Golden Globes is becoming a gathering of both the #MeToo movement and Time’s Up activists—with pretty much all the women (and most men) in attendance declaring they will wear black as an act of solidaritywith all victims of sexual assault and harassment in the workplace.
Both Aniston and Jolie are no strangers to this movement, with Aniston donating $500,000 to the Time’s Up GoFundMe campaign—the money will be distributed to men and women seeking legal defence to report or fight sexual abuse in their place of work—whilst Jolie has publicly spoken out about now-disgraced heavyweight film producer, Harvey Weinstein. In an interview with The New York Timesshe said:
It’s brilliant to see two women, famously pitted against each other over a man, come together to mark their respects and show their support for women’s rights and safety in the workplace.
