Beyoncé and Jay-Z were among the high-profile names to be honoured at last night’s GLAAD Media Awards.
The superstar pair were honoured during the organisation’s 30th annual awards, which “recognises and honours media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community and the issues that affect their lives”.Beyoncé and Jay-Z were presented by GLAAD with the Vanguard Award for “their LGBTQ allyship” during last night’s ceremony (March 29) in LA. Beyoncé subsequently posted an image of the two stars posing with their awards on her Instagram, which you can see below.
Beyoncé said she was “overwhelmed” to receive the award, and urged people to “love and support those closest to you”.
Jay-Z paid tribute to his mother Gloria Carter in his speech. “Life, this journey, is filled with highs, lows and a lot of learning. This is a momentous night, and I also want to honour my mother, who received an award last year.” Watch the duo’s acceptance speech below.
