In a bit of extremely good and very heartwarming news, a recent tweet asking folks about their celebrity encounters that revealed those celebs were indeed #VeryNiceCelebs has gone viral. Folks have flocked to the tweet’s replies to write in their memories of some truly sweet meetings with famous people, reminding us all that, well, sometimes they can be just like us.
The tweet in question was written by @Doug_Tilley, who posed the prompt, “Tell me a story of when meeting your hero(es) lived up to expectations.” Immediately, the stories started pouring in. One of the sweetest was about Crazy Rich Asiansdirector Jon M. Chu.
“Met Jon Chu (Crazy Rich Asians director) at an after party. Everyone was pulling him around but he listened to me pitch a Mean Girls remake told through the perspective of the Vietnamese clique, then asked me questions about what I wanted to do after college,” the fan wrote. Okay, first things first: Can we actually get that Mean Girls remake? Second, how great is this story? It lowkey proves that not all celebs are turned off by the idea of engaging with their fans.
And the stories only get better from there. We can’t get enough of this short celeb story about Taylor Swift, wherein one person recalled that “the first time i met @taylorswift13 she called me beautiful and i am acutely aware that my life peaked in that moment.”
Another wrote vividly about their epic encounter with Leonardo DiCaprio. “Not sure about hero, but DiCaprio(literally) ran into me in a club. He apologized, shook my hand, bought me a shot, and promptly walked back to his table with 4 models, 2 magnums of champagne, and a bunch of sparklers. It was 3 am on a Wednesday,” a Twitter user commented.
But this is just a taste of the great celebrity stories that can be found in this thread. Celebs we have always hoped would be true gems like Carrie Fisher, Jack White, Robin Williams, and Dolly Parton also get shoutouts and the ways in which their niceness comes out (as told in these stories) is just to pure.
Honestly, go read the thread ASAP. It’ll make your day a whole lot better TBH.
